Process

Concept:
These three photographs were taken using three statue-like objects I found in the local charity shop, I wanted to express that there was still fun and hope to be had in items given away. Within these photos, each object has an item of orange neckwear that I fashioned out of a tattered piece of a micro- fibre cloth for glasses. This style of making it look like statues have a life of their own resonates with me as a person who liked to entertain such thoughts from an early age.

Influences:
These were somewhat inspired by the work of an internet based photographer, Brian Marshall. His work includes fashioning robots out of scrap metal and making it look as if they were alive.

Obviously, I didn’t have handfuls of scrap metal to hand, so I had to settle with making it look like the statues I had found had a flair for fashion in them. The orange colour that I chose is meant to reflect the ideals of hope in these figures, making them seem more jovial and happy.
